International flooring specialist Gerflor are proud to be the principle sponsor supporting the Royal Institute of
Architects Ireland (RIAI) awards programme 2016.
The RIAI seeks to provide architects with the professional training, education and research support required
to consolidate the role of the RIAI.
Now in their 27th year, the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards celebrate the best architecture in Ireland and around
the world. Winning projects reflect quality and advances in architecture, and show the value that architecture
adds to society across a range of typologies. The RIAI Awards are considered by both the public and the
profession as the most valued architecture awards in Ireland, resulting in strong promotion of the value of good
architecture:
The annual awards are there to promote the best of the best and the categories include everything from;
Commercial/Retail projects through to Education, Health, Leisure, Housing, Public Buildings and Sustainability.
The annual awards are therefore very prestigious and the competition for shortlisting is extremely fierce.
Sponsoring these awards for Gerflor is synonymous with their commitment to quality, innovation and
engagement with the architectural community.
The programme which started in February of this year called for all entries to be made this is then followed
with the RIAI assessment panel sitting in April/May in order to create a shortlist. This will now be followed by a
Public Choice vote campaign starting at the end of May with the final awards announced on the 24th June. The
Irish public has the opportunity to vote for their favourite building and the shortlist and winner are announced
in Ireland’s most popular radio show, Morning Ireland, RTE Radio One.
The Awards night, the Public Choice winner announcement and dinner on the 24th June 2016 will be held at
the stunning 17th Century Royal Hospital in Kilmainham on the outskirts of Dublin City, with RTE TV expected
to cover the event.
