Fundamentally, physical education can have a range of health-related benefits to anyone, and children are no different. For children with limited means to exercise outside of school, their physical education in school is vital to their overall health.
At Yealmpton Primary to the East of Plymouth in South Devon they strive to inspire and challenge the children in their care. All children are encouraged to be more active during break and lunch times with sports and fitness at the forefront of that focus.
When the school implemented a refurbishment programme for their multi-use hall and kitchen servery area, they turned to international flooring specialist Gerflor to supply 180 m2 of their world class Taraflex® Multi-Use vinyl sports flooring in Wood Natural and 20 m2 of their Tarasafe Ultra safety flooring in Citrine for the school’s kitchen servery area. An Isolsport underlay was also supplied by Gerflor, enabling the installer to lay the Taraflex® Multi Use directly over the existing Granwood floor.
The specification and installation would be the responsibility of family run, Plymouth-based Moss Eco Flooring Limited who have been serving the local community with domestic and commercial flooring since 2012.

Tarasafe Ultra is a specialist slip-resistant vinyl safety flooring inlaid with mineral crystals particles, as opposed to carborundum giving a brighter appearance. It also comes with a tough PVC wearlayer and meets HSE guidelines. Tarasafe Ultra is reinforced with a glass fibre grid and is suitable for use in all areas of heavy traffic where slip-resistance, durability and hygienic conditions are required. Tarasafe Ultra comes with a 12-year warranty and is also 100% recyclable. The range has a maximum hygiene rating meeting the EN Standard 22196 for anti- bacterial activity (E. coli – S. aureus – MRSA) (3) returning >99% levels of growth inhibition.
