HLM Architects has completed a new studio environment in Cardiff featuring a coordinated flooring specification from Gerflor, designed to support the demands of a growing architectural practice. The project incorporated 330m² of floor finishes, combining Gerflor Creation 55 Looselay LVT with Gradus Lunar carpet tiles across circulation areas, meeting rooms and breakout spaces.

Relocating to larger premises to accommodate continued business growth, HLM required a durable and adaptable workspace capable of supporting both collaborative and focused working environments. The flooring specification needed to balance long-term performance with a cohesive interior finish suitable for a busy, design-led studio.

Gerflor Creation 55 Looselay LVT was selected for high-traffic circulation routes, providing a durable and flexible flooring solution with simplified installation and future adaptability benefits. Gradus Lunar carpet tiles were specified within meeting rooms and informal breakout areas to improve acoustic comfort and create a softer underfoot experience.

Working alongside HLM’s interiors team and contractor Lancer Scott Ltd, Gerflor developed a coordinated flooring solution aligned to the practical and aesthetic requirements of the new studio environment. The selected products supported efficient installation while delivering the durability and flexibility required for modern office use.

Gareth Woodfin, Studio Director at HLM, commented: “We are extremely pleased with the final result. The new studio provides a modern and functional workspace, and the flooring plays an important role in supporting how the space is used day-to-day.”

Tony Thorne, Regional Sales Manager (South) at Gerflor, added: “This prestigious office project demonstrates how Gerflor’s LVT and Carpet collections can be effectively combined to create flexible, long-lasting environments meeting the bespoke needs of commercial office settings.”

The completed project demonstrates how complementary flooring systems can be combined to create high-performing, flexible workplace environments that support both immediate operational needs and future growth.
